Comparison

Yesterday was Melanie's one year well check @ the doctors. She is off the charts with her weight (less than 5%). Our doc always asks us if we feed her (joking) & YES we do :) She eats all the time, I guess it just doesn't stick.
I got wondering how Mel compared to me when I was age one, the results were quite interesting. I thought I'd add Seth in, just for fun (although he never had a problem gaining weight) here are the results:

I'm sure that most of you know that I was born pre mature (3 months early). By looking at our (Melanie & I) results for age one, we are actually quite close that it is scary. No wonder the doc is a little concerned & WIC is freaking out. I promise we do feed her, but if these people only knew MY history and what a small person I was, maybe they would be ok with the way Melanie is.

Birthday Girl :)

Here are some birthday pictures as promised. Melanie doesn't know how to blow out a candle yet, so I did for her. She just sat there like "what am I supposed to do with this." She ate the whole cupcake!!

I found this cute pink ball at our grocery store for .99 cents. She loved kicking it around.

I'm grateful for the wonderful families Josh and I have. Melanie has so many that love her. She got some very cute clothes for her birthday. Thanks to everyone for their gifts :) We didn't have an official birthday party, but got visits from Grandma and Grandpa Burbank (Josh's parents) & Aunt Sarina & Uncle Joe, Aunt Shea & cousin Ethan. My parents gave Melanie her birthday present on the 31st when we were at their house visiting. Melanie also really loved to play with the wrapping paper :)

My Baby is ONE today!!

Please don't ask why I'm up at 1 am doing this, I don't know. Crazy I guess. This post is emotionally hard for me. I wanted Melanie so bad I couldn't see straight. I handled the whole thing wrong at the time and I hate myself for that. I just couldn't believe that I couldn't get pregnant and at times I wondered if I ever would. Finally after 3 1/2 years we did. Seth was 5 at the time. I can't believe what a wonderful, smart, loving, caring and protective big brother Meliane has :) He has been so good with her! I am truly amazed at how one year passes so easily. Birth is a MIRACLE! I am so grateful that I am able to be that close to my Heavenly Father. I cried when Melanie arrived, she was FINALLY here!! And now she is ONE. On a side note, I think the "terrible two's" for Melanie have started at ONE :) She knows how to throw a good old fashioned fit and she does it quite regularly when she doesn't get what she wants. All in all she's been a happy baby, now if we could just get her to sleep through the night :)

This is the CUTEST coat I have ever seen! It looks brand new! I found it at our D.I. for only $4.00. Since it's big for her this winter, I'm sure it will fit her next winter also. She had just fallen over so that is why she looks so sad. I think the coat weighs her down or something.

It's amazing the difference between my curly hair and when I straighten it. I think I like it curly better, I just wish it was longer.

Shorty

It's official.....I'M SHORT (ok, so that's ALWAYS been official). I was just surprised to see that my little bro Jake caught up to his big sister already in height :( He's only 12. It makes me wonder how old Seth will be when he catches up to me?
